



Sri Lanka was called as the Paradise Island by Ancient Sea farers Iban Batuta, Marco Polo, Tolamy and many other Asian, Arabian, European and Far East Travellers for it's natural resources and divercity within a small Island of 25226 Squire Miles.

The Sea surrounding Sri Lanka is also a great natural treasure trove yet to be explored. The strategic location in the Indian Ocean dividing west and eastern sides makes veriry of climatic ranges. Having situated 5 degrees below the equater Sri Lanka enjoys sun shine every day and a climate similar to Mediterranean.
There are 403 documented species and 23 endemic birds, Sri Lanka specific Elephants, a Great Wild Life habitat, Many species of fauna and flora, eco friendly society.

In February 1986 Nil Manel or blue water lily (Nymphaea stellata, though it has been recently renamed as Nymphaea nouchali) was chosen as the National flower. Nil Manel can find all the part of Sri Lanka and grows in the shallow water.



The Asian elephant is smaller than the African and its ears also short. There only one finger at the end of the trunk instead of two. But there are four round nails to the Sri Lankan elephant but Africans has only three.
Sri Lankan elephant has a personality that allows it to be domesticated. But it not means all the elephants. Wild elephants are more dangerous to the villages. They destroy all the cultivations and houses belonging to poor villages. Some time there are clash between elephants and people. As a result of that elephant had been killed and disappeared. Then people also had been killed by the wild elephants.

As a result of its location in the path of major sea routes, Sri Lanka is a strategic naval link between West Asia and South East Asia. It has also been a center of the Buddhist religion and culture from ancient times and is one of the few remaining abodes of Buddhism in South Asia along with Ladakh, Bhutan and the Chittagong hill tracts The Sinhalese community forms the majority of the population; Tamils, who are concentrated in the north and east of the island, form the largest ethnic minority. Other communities include Moors, Burghers, Kaffirs, Malays and the aboriginal Vedda people.

The country is famous for the production and export of tea, coffee, coconuts, rubber and cinnamon, the last of which is native to the country. The natural beauty Sri Lanka has led to the title The Pearl of the Indian Ocean. The island is laden with lush tropical forests, white beaches and diverse landscapes with rich biodiversity. The country lays claim to a long and colorful history of over three thousand years, having one of the longest documented histories in the world. Sri Lanka’s rich culture can be attributed to the many different communities on the island. Sri Lanka is a founding member state of SAARC and a member United Nations, Commonwealth of Nations, G77 and Non-Aligned Movement.
